The APPG on Baby Loss is holding a panel event on early pregnancy loss to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026.
Maternity and neonatal care is at a watershed moment in England, however early losses remain a significant gap in the national conversation, with issues such as miscarriage data collection, the bereavement care pathways for earlier losses not being mandated in NHS guidance, and the lack of focus in the Amos recommendations.
The event will highlight the actions needed to improve early pregnancy care and ensure that all parents receive high quality bereavement care following early losses, as the Taskforce and the Government develop the National Action Plan for Maternity, expected in December 2026. It will also provide the opportunity to reflect on recent policy developments such as the introduction of bereavement leave for pregnancy loss.
