Ahead of this year’s elections on 6 May, ask your local candidates to pledge to take action to make Scotland the safest place in the world to have a baby, if elected.
The Pregnancy and Baby Charities Network Manifesto sets out the actions needed by Government to achieve this, which include:
• Giving all families a maternity guarantee of a personalised care journey that fits their needs.
• Giving all sick and premature babies the best chance of survival and quality of life.
• Providing every family with the bereavement care they need after pregnancy or baby loss.
Over the last five years, the Best Start program has made a significant difference to maternity and neonatal services in Scotland. However, COVID-19 has disrupted its plans and some areas of work remain unfinished. Completion of this program is key for making steps towards achieving the aims of the Pregnancy and Baby Charities Network.
