Every bereaved parent deserves compassionate, high-quality care but for too many families at Lewisham Hospital, that care has fallen short.
A group of bereaved parents in Lewisham, supported by Sands, surveyed local families about their experiences of bereavement care at the hospital. More than half rated their care as poor or very poor. More than half were not given the opportunity to make memories with their baby.

We are calling on Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust to invest in better bereavement care including more bereavement midwife capacity, improved facilities, and consistent compassionate support for every bereaved parent, seven days a week.
